Lore & Background

Kor presents himself as a wise Precursor robot who has long opposed Baron Praxis, becoming the leader of the Underground resistance in Haven City. He guides Jak and his friends with knowledge of Precursor technology and a calm, authoritative demeanor that earns their trust. But the truth is far darker. Kor is not a Precursor robot—he is the leader of the Metal Heads, the monstrous insect-like race that threatens the world. He disguised himself to manipulate the Underground, using Jak's powers to open a rift to the Precursor world, allowing the Metal Heads to invade and conquer it. In the final confrontation, Kor sheds his robotic disguise and transforms into a massive, terrifying Metal Head creature. Jak defeats and kills him in a climactic battle, ending his scheme. His betrayal is a pivotal moment, revealing the depth of the Metal Head threat and the cost of blind trust.

In Their Own Story

The Underground base hummed with quiet urgency. Jak stood before Kor, the ancient robot's glowing eyes fixed on him. "You have done well, Jak," Kor intoned, his voice a deep, resonant echo. "But the Baron's forces grow stronger. We must strike at the heart of his power." Jak nodded, feeling the weight of the mission. But as he turned to leave, he caught a flicker in Kor's gaze—a cold, calculating glint that didn't belong to any machine of Precursor origin. He dismissed it as exhaustion. Later, in the heat of battle, the truth would shatter him.

Reader's Guide

Kor is a major antagonist in Jak II, though his role as a villain is hidden for most of the game. He is the leader of the Underground, a resistance group fighting Baron Praxis. Players interact with him in the Underground's hideout, where he gives missions and story exposition. He appears as a tall, robotic figure with a calm, commanding presence. His true identity is revealed late in the game: he is a Metal Head, the leader of the invading alien race. After his betrayal, he transforms into a large, insect-like boss creature. The final battle against Kor is a multi-phase fight where players must use Jak's Eco powers, weapons, and mobility to defeat him. He attacks with energy blasts, summoning smaller Metal Heads, and a devastating charge attack. Kor's role is central to the plot, serving as the mastermind behind the Metal Head invasion and the manipulation of Jak's journey. He is a cunning, deceptive figure whose true nature is a shocking twist. His defeat is essential to saving the world and ending the Metal Head threat.
